My sister Vicki from AZ. had a Lap-Band the
first part of Oct. Ever since then that is all we talk about. She was to get her
first fill in Dec. and she talked me and my husband into me getting the
Lap-Band. Mainly my husband, cause I wanted right away. So Dec. 21st. we left
Az. where Vicki teaches school and headed for Mexico.
It's a long ride and the traffic in San Diego was really bad. We arrived in the
parking lot at about 8PM. We caught the bus for Tijuana; we were met at the
station by Dr. Kelly and his wife. They took us to the hotel just a short way
from the hospital. Now let me tell you the ride in the bus was a real eye
opener... my husband is from New York and he had to close is eyes. Who would
have thought that they have so much traffic in Tijuana. We had a very nice visit
with Dr. Kelly and wife in the lovely lobby of the Hotel He explained every
thing we could think to ask about the fill and the Lap-Band surgery. We had
something to eat and went to bed. Our room over looked the pool and we felt like
we were on a vacation.
Dr. Kelly did the fill the next day on Vicki; she had a cd of it and could not
wait to get home to see it. I had surgery later that day because of blood work
and EKG, and all they had to get me ready. It all went like clock work, the
hospital was small and clean and everybody was very friendly, it seems to me
most of there work is Lap-Bands, so they do it very well. I guess they have seen
it all by now. I took a shower and Dr Kelly and is wife came and checked me gave
me a RX, and then he had a van driver take us back to the parking lot on the
American side and we were on our way home.
All and all we enjoyed our trip; I suggest that you stay longer than one day but
we wanted to be someplace special for Christmas. And we made it! It is now a
month since my surgery I feel good and can eat what I want and I'm really trying
to eat right. I take vitamins and my port scar is the only one that I even
notice any more. I've lost 25lbs. looking forward to six months from now....
Vicki has lost 48lbs. that is from Oct. till now. We like doing it together, she
lives in Litchfield AZ. 5 hours from us in Hemet Calif. We have raised our
children together. Now we are going to get slim together.
